Super Smash Bros For 3DS Release Date And News: Pic Of The Day Reveals StreetSmash Mode

Super Smash Bros 3DS Pic Of The Day Reveals StreetSmash Mode

Despite the launch of Super Smash Bros. on 3DS in Japan, Nintendo is continuing to release daily news and images to its western audiences.

Gameplay and secrets are pouring onto the web from those who own the game or have played the demo, but that won't stop the official posts for now, which will contain less reveals and news and more amusing or interesting images.

There is still no release date for the Wii U version of the game, while the 3DS edition is set to launch in North America on October 3. The pic of the day posts by series director Masahiro Sakurai via the Miiverse forums will likely begin to shift toward the console version as the 3DS game launches.

Despite the claim that he would not talk about "hidden features", Sakurai has today posted something we had not yet seen before for the 3DS version. The image above shows off StreetSmash (presumably the StreetPass functionality), which looks like a Beyblades-style arena game. This is his description:

"Here's a glimpse of StreetSmash. Make sure to set this up once you get the game. The more fighters you play against at once, the more loot you can earn."

Simple enough, and yet another mode added to the already packed title. Keep checking back for more Super Smash Bros. news, which will hopefully include a Wii U release date soon.
