Pokemon TCG Online iPad App Hits U.S. App Store, Free Download Allows For Multiplatform Play
The Pokémon Trading Card Game Online app is in the middle of its international roll out, and last night it hit American iPads to make Pokémon cards a more mobile experience than ever.
The free app allows new players to jump into the world of Pokémon TCG Online and lets existing players of the game for Windows and Mac OS X take their account on the go. Earlier this week, the app hit Australian, Canadian and U.K. iPads. The rest of this week will then be dedicated to getting the app out across other markets in Africa, Asia, Europe and South America.
For those Pokémon fans who haven't had a chance to practice their TCG skills since draconian elementary school rules started cracking down on the game, the app comes with simple tutorial levels to make sure players learn how to stack energy, effectively utilize items and evolve their basic cards into more powerful monsters. Older TCG fans will be back in fighting form in no time.
Like the computer version of the game, the Pokémon TCG Online iPad app includes matches against computer opponents and other human players. There are even occasional tournaments for players all over the globe to test their deck. Players can create their own avatar, build custom decks and even trade cards with their friends. It's just like the real game except without the need to worry about keeping track of hundreds of paper cards.
All players start out with a small collection of starter decks, but defeating opponents will allow players to build up their card library and eventually create a powerful deck of their own. Buying physical Pokémon TCG booster packs will also let players unlock digital, in-game cards with a special code.
Pokémon TCG Online is now free to download for iPads and iPad minis with Retina display on Apple's App Store.
