Persona 4 Arena Ultimax Brings Japanese Arcade Fighter Gameplay To PS3, Xbox 360 [RELEASE TRAILER]

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax Is Here To Give Us A Fix While We Wait For More Persona 5 Information

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax has finally hit American consoles, and a new release trailer from publisher Atlus is showing off the fast-paced arcade fighter action in all its glory.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax Highlights Three Characters With New Trailers

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax started life almost a year ago as a Japanese arcade game. Back in August, the game was ported to last-gen consoles and released in Japan. The game combines characters from both the Persona 3 and Persona 4 RPGs, providing unique stories for both games and setting up characters from each for some no-holds-barred, Street Fighter-style arcade fighting.

Ultimax follows up on 2012 fight game Persona 4 Arena. The story picks up a week after Persona 4 Arena's ended. The gameplay is comparable with the addition of a few new features and mechanics. Along with the addition of several new playable characters – most of which are exclusive to consoles – Ultimax includes Shadow Types for many of the game's fighters. These fighter forms offer more experienced players an extra challenge by decreasing attack damage and revamping characters' playstyles with an offense-only move set.

Persona Q Gets A Couple Of Character Trailers

This game, plus the upcoming Persona Q RPG for the 3DS, should help to keep Persona fans distracted while Persona 5 is still deep under wraps. A new numbered entry in the RPG series hasn't been seen since Persona 4 back in 2008, so it would be understandable for series diehards to be itching for some new info. The wait shouldn't be too long, though. Persona 5 is set to release next year.

In the meantime, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is out now for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 systems.
