Next-Gen Wii U's Darksiders 2 Graphics Equal to Xbox 360 and PS3
Darksiders 2 will be on the launch list for Wii U. A new trailer is available for fans to catch a glimpse on the latest developments.
The excitement around Darksiders 2 coincides with the unveiling of the Nintendo WiiU at E3 2011. Higher rendered graphics will be enhanced on the WiiU console, straying from the basic block visuals seen in the original Wii.
Game director Marvin Donald claims that the WiiU is on par with other consoles and that the Nintendo game's graphics will look similar to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
"So far the hardware's been on par with what we have with the current generation. Based on what I understand, the resolution, textures, polygon counts and all that stuff, we're not going to being doing anything to up-rez the game, but we'll take advantage of the controller for sure."
"We got the game running on their hardware pretty quickly and the controller's been great to work with. Now it's just down to deciding what we really want to do to make it a unique experience on the Wii U, taking advantage of the extra screen and the touch capability and all that. So we'll have a few new features for sure, but I think visually, for the most part, it'll be pretty much the same," said Donald.
Darksiders 2 will also plan to use WiiU's new touchscreen controls according to Vigil Game's developer, Hayden Dalton. He spoke about using the touchscreen during gameplay and the uniqueness it gives to the Nintendo's version of Darksiders 2 compared to other consoles.
"So, for instance, I could be running along and I could click on another piece and I could put it on as I'm running through the game," he said. "That's huge, it's not breaking up the game in a way. I'm not going into a menu and assigning it, I'm literally just tapping as I'm playing... we're not basically heavily changing the core game to support the control system, but the control system will be an enhancement of the core game," said Dalton.
Darksiders 2 is set to launch on June 26 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
