iPhone 6 Demand Causes Delay In Production Of New Larger iPads, Report Says, As October 16 Announcements Draw Near

Apple's Suppliers Increase iPhone 6 Production At The Expense Of A New, Larger iPad

Apple suppliers have moved production resources into creating additional iPhone 6 and 6 Plus models to meet demand, delaying production of a new, larger iPad, the Wall Street Journal reported.

What We Might Be Able To Expect From Apple's Event Next Week

According to the report, a new line of iPads with a rumored 12.9-inch screen was slated to begin production in December. Those plans have been set back, however, as Apple's supply chain redirects resources into increasing iPhone 6 output. Ever since the phone's release, reports of phone suppliers not being up to the task of meeting the iPhone 6's record-breaking demand have been circulating, and with the Chinese iPhone 6 release date coming up in just one week, these supply issues are likely going to become worse before they become better.

Yesterday, Apple announced a second press event to follow up on their iPhone 6 reveal. The event will be held next week on October 16, and Apple is expected to announce, among other things, a new iPad. Whether these reported complications will affect what Apple has to say on Thursday is unknown.

iOS 8.1 Should Be Just Around The Corner; Here's What Will Probably Be On It

While the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were still in production, rumors regarding production line problems were being published every so often with worries of short supply following not far behind. Both phone models were placed on a shipping delay during the first day of preorders, with some iPhone 6 Plus buyers getting stranded with a month-long estimated delay. If the report is true, it seems like Apple's suppliers are now in catch-up mode in terms of iPhone 6 production, even at the expense of Apple's other devices.
