Boom Beach Update Introduces Task Forces: Forge Alliances With Players To Gather Intel And Take Down The Nazi Blackguard

Supercell's latest game, Boom Beach, is like all Supercell games: an annoyingly good time. In fact, there are parts I may enjoy better than Clash of Clans. It is amazing what having a little control over your troop movement can do for one's enjoyment of the game.

Boom Beach was released earlier this year and has even been nominated for a Golden Joystick (which puts it in the company of Hitman GO, Monument Valley and Hearthstone). But can it be improved? Absolutely, and Supercell is doing just that.

If you logged into Boom Beach this weekend, you may have been notified of the new group system, called Task Forces. These allow you to team up with other players in your very own Grand Alliance to battle the Blackguards.

From a forum post from Tim, Supercell staffer:

- Task Forces will come in four different max player sizes: 5, 10, 25 and 50.
- You start at 5 and can choose to increase to 10, 25 or 50.
- Once you increase your Task Force's max player size, you can NEVER decrease it again (this is because there are separate leaderboards for each size bracket).
- Bigger Task Forces can take on more difficult operations and potentially get greater rewards, but the challenge of successfully coordinating at a larger scale should be considered. One imagines this involves one army invading from the west, another from the east and both unsure what to do with the main Blackguard city upon successfully capturing it.
- Task Forces become available at HQ 6. - Sweet, now I can get in on that!

Additionally, it appears that those pesky Blackguard are creating advanced war-machines using 'Power Cores': new power generators with unheard of capacity, fueled by Power Stones. This sounds like a much better use for the stones than those weird statues.

Players should organize a new Task Force and strike at the Blackguard bases and not only destroy as many Power Cores as you can, but also gather up as many pieces of Intel as your team can. Gathering Intel will allow you to uncover the Blackguard mainland.

- Gather intel from attack and defense.
- Intel belongs to your Task Force - if you leave, you don't take it with you.
- Intel contributions from each Task Force member are visible to everyone.

A social aspect to Boom Beach is not required (I enjoy it like crazy as is), but the ability to team up with others sounds awesome. Can't wait to see how it plays out. Will it become more like Clash or continue to be its own thing? Tell us below!
