New Mass Effect 3 Ending will be Available this Summer

The makers of Mass Effect 3 announced that an downloadable content pack, which includes an expansion to the game's ending,  will be available this summer.

Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut responds to the recent uproar of fans feeling disappointed about the game's ending.  Electronic Arts reported that the new content will not alter the game's conclusion, but will explore more in detail the events at the end of the game.

Here is a statement from EA:

"Through additional cinematic sequences and epilogue scenes, the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut will give fans seeking further clarity to the ending of Mass Effect 3 deeper insights into how their personal journey concludes. Coming this summer, the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut will be available for download on the Xbox 360 videogame and entertainment system, PlayStation3 computer entertainment system and PC for no extra charge."

EA expanded on the DLC saying the new content will deliver answers to fans while keeping the overall 'artistic vision' to the Mass Effect trilogy.

Though no official reports have revealed the actual plot or characters involved in the upcoming DLC, certain sources have indicated that the female Commander Shepherd may not be included. Jennifer Hale, who voiced the female Commander Shepherd, spoke with Edge and shared that developer BioWare has not contacted her for any work.

No further details have been released from EA or BioWare though the companies promise that they are hard at work to help clarify the ending and provide new full games and content in the future.

The free DLC will be made available for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
