John Cena Rages Against The Dying Of The Light In Latest WWE 2K15 Commercial

Last night on Raw, viewers were treated to the premiere of the new spot for the upcoming WWE 2K15. The commercial brought a solemn tone to the generally over-the-top world of professional wrestling.

WWE 2K15 Features A Royal Rumble Sized Helping Of MoCap

Cover star John Cena, who is one of the nicest guys in the industry, channels his inner orator. He growls Dylan Thomas's famous poem 'Do not go gentle into that good night', his voice juxtaposed against scenes from next week's release of WWE 2K15 and some silent moments of reflection from Cena, Cesaro, Hulk Hogan, Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns.

One hopes that the google searches for the Dylan Thomas poem increased by several million after it aired during Raw. I am sure the Welsh poet did not expressly intend for his most famous work to be used in the context of professional wrestling, but since the text explores the feelings of old men staring down the inevitable, it is somewhat fitting. The poem was originally written for Thomas' father, though its use has been recontextualized in recent years not simply as a shouting down of age, but of the impotent screams all humans feel when facing the music.
