First Warhammer 40000 Regicide Character Screens Released: Lots Of Orks And Space Marines In Upcoming Strategy Title

Another day, another Warhammer game. Much like Assassin's Creed, there is never not a new title in the beloved Games Workshop series coming out. Several new screens of the latest, Warhammer 40,000: Regicide, have just been released by indie studio Hammerfall Publishing.

News has been slow to come by concerning the chess-like strategy title. Hammerfall has been quiet for months, dropping bits and pieces like crumbs for fans to follow. A new trailer came out last week, though it was somewhat lacking in details (it sure did look nice, though). Recently, the company has launched feature rich website with a new forum honor system for Regicide, where players can gain incentives by declaring their allegiance along with meeting their opponents before the game launches.

None of this is surprising. The game isn't even in Beta at the moment and Warhammer games come with their own fiercely loyal group of fans. But even a little something?

Thankfully, the new actual in-game character screenshots present the Space Marine Captain, Tactical Marine, and Devastator in all their glory. The Ork Loota, Shoota Boy, and the feral Weirdboy strike a brutal contrast, as well as a promise of the violence and bloodshed yet to come. These detailed Warhammer 40,000 characters come to life against the war-torn setting of a winter stronghold environment. These images, along with two videos showing the characters in action, will give players a taste of what awaits them on the battlefield.

Speaking of that battlefield, Regicide is looking to revamp the familiar mechanic:
- Power up pieces, unleash psychic powers, and crush your foes through multiple phases of combat.
- Match wits against the highly advanced Codex AI engine, or battle others PvP and score a checkmate at the end of a bloodied chainsword.

Regicide showcases a tactical, single-player Blood Angels campaign for the PC, and will feature a robust multiplayer element. No release date has been announced for the game yet. We'll keep you updated as information continues to trickle out.
