Assassin's Creed Rogue Details: Legendary Ships Return From Black Flag But Now With Entire Fleets To Defeat

Legendary Ships Will Be Returning In Assassin's Creed Rogue With A Vengeance

We've known for a while that Assassin's Creed Rogue would be bringing Black Flag's naval gameplay back to consoles one last time. Now, we know that Legendary Ships will also be included in the game with a new twist that should make the battles even more epic.

Meet The Assassins Who Will Stand In Shay's Way In Assassin's Creed Rogue

In a DevBlog video posted Friday on the Assassin's Creed YouTube channel, Ubisoft community manager Andrien Gbinigie answered some burning questions from the fan community, one of the most popular of which was whether Legendary Ships, tough naval enemies that drop quite a bit of loot, would be found in Rogue's North Atlantic naval settings. As it turns out, Legendary Ships are returning, but not exactly in the same way they appeared in Black Flag.

Now, Legendary Ships come with their own fleet of support vessels. No longer is a Legendary Ship simply a one-on-one fight, you against a nigh-indestructible man-o-war. In Rogue, Shay Cormac will have to face off against a Legendary Ship as well as its entourage of other warships in order to get at its sizable reward.

Because he has access to the deep pockets of the Templar Order, Shay's ship, the Morrigan, looks to include some powerful improvements over Edward Kenway's Jackdaw. At the very least, adding some additional challenges to Legendary Ships (now called Legendary Battles) will help balance the game and make sure these naval giants still pose enough of a challenge for Shay and his crew.

Assassin's Creed Rogue is set to hit PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 systems on November 11. A PC version has also been confirmed for early 2015.
