Bungie has shed some light on Destiny's first DLC expansion, The Dark Below, which is due out this December.

The DLC has long been announced, and a recent leak gave us a glimpse at some of its content, but the official release provides specific details about what to expect.

The Light level cap will be raised to 32, a bump up from the current 30 if you can find the gear to support it. New exotic and legendary gear will be introduced, though the exact nature of these items is still unclear.

Story missions and quests will be added to game alongside five more bounty slots. New character Eris warns that the Hive are attempting to summon the god Crota to destroy Earth, and will be available in the tower to offer three missions.

As hinted at in the leak, the new raid Crota's End (Destiny's second raid) will also be introduced. It's set within the Hellmouth, and will be a six player affair like Vault of Glass. A new cooperative Strike, The Will of Crota (see a pattern?) will pit you and your fireteam against the enemy Omnigul. Three Crucible maps are also included in the DLC--Pantheon, Skyshock, and The Cauldron.

"Destiny was created as a living universe, which has allowed us to improve the experience post launch in real-time," says Harold Ryan, President of Bungie. "It also gives us insight into the things players are looking for in new content. We've seen from feedback that people want new activities, gear and weapons, and of course the immensely popular Raid. The community helps shape our development decisions and that's really important to us."

The PS4 and PS3 version come with a timed exclusive cooperative Strike, the Undying Mind. The Dark Below will be available on December 9 for $19.99, or for $34.99 as part of the Destiny season pass.
