Shuhei Yoshida, president of SCE Worldwide Studios, wrote a message to the frustrated Driveclub community today via the game's official Facebook page in which he gave a brief update on the state of affairs both on the game in general and the long-awaited free PS Plus version.

At Least Driveclub's Matchmaking Is Now A Bit Better

According to the post, Sony has given developer Evolution Studios some help in getting better network infrastructure up for the PlayStation 4 exclusive. Unfortunately, Shu continued, the amount of time needed to get the game's multiplayer up to the level where it needs to be is taking longer than expected.

As for the once-promised free version of the game for PS Plus members, Shu wrote that the version has been officially delayed.

"With the high volume of new players and additional server load the PS Plus Edition is anticipated to bring, we are currently not confident that we can guarantee the best online experience," the post reads. "Until we can ensure that everyone can enjoy the full social connected online experience, we will be postponing the release of the PS Plus Edition until further notice."

Driveclub was released back on October 7 and has been experiencing server problems ever since, with players unable to connect or only able to connect for a short time before getting booted. The developers at Evolution Studios have been very communicative with the player base throughout the ordeal over Facebook and Twitter, keeping everyone up to speed about server updates, software patches and different features of the game that they've been able to reintroduce over the weeks.
