Final Fantasy III Optimized For New Android TV; IV, V And VI Available For Use With Nexus Player In Coming Months

Google is rolling out its Android TV and it is big news for gamers on the platform. The new technology allows players to stream their mobile apps to a set-top box or television, and many companies are currently optimizing their content for use with the technology.

One such developer is Square Enix, who has recently rolled out updated editions of several of its Final Fantasy titles for use on mobile platforms. Today, the company announced that Final Fantasy III is the first title to be optimized for compatibility with Android TV.

Final Fantasy IV, V and VI, all currently available for Android devices, will receive optimization in the coming months.

Return To Columbia With Bioshock Infinite: The Complete Edition

Currently, only the Nexus Player will run Android TV. The box was developed by Google in conjunction with Asus. The set is available only in the United States and Canada.

Final Fantasy III has been available for some time on the Android platform. The 1990 game was the only title in the Final Fantasy series to never have been given a Western release in the early days of the Super Nintendo. The first time it ever came to the United States was in 2006, available on the Nintendo DS. The game is noted for its difficulty, it being a Japanese RPG of the early era of gaming.

A phone is no place to experience a world as big as any in Final Fantasy. Android TV will not only let players put their game up on the big screen, but also make it easier to navigate the menus via the player's new controller. Mobile gaming has been great, but the touch screen mechanics can still be a burden if not properly utilized. Nothing beats the tactile feel of a controller in one's hands for the endless grind.

You can pick up the Nexus Player via the Google Store for $99. Final Fantasy III is available at the Google Play store for $15.99.
