Assassin's Creed Unity Partners With Edge Shaving Gel For Exclusive In-Game DLC

Buy Some Shaving Gel And Get Exclusive Gear In Assassin's Creed Unity

In perhaps one of the more unexpected exclusivity deals Assassin's Creed Unity has in store, Edge Shave Gel will be selling Unity-branded cans of shaving gel that allow players to unlock a special in-game sword, hood or piece of armor, depending on which type of gel they buy.

Assassin's Creed Unity Details: Getting To Know Some Of The Many Districts Of Paris

Edge made the announcement yesterday over Facebook (thanks, Kotaku) that the three in-game items will be able to be unlocked by picking up a specially marked can of shaving gel. It's perhaps not as exciting as, say, getting access to some vanity facial hair patterns you could stick on Arno – which would also tie in better with the whole shaving gel motif – but surely Arno can always use another mid-level sword hanging around in his display cases.

The connection between Ubisoft's next-gen action title and a brand of shaving gel is certainly tenuous. Assassins have sharp blades. Shaving also requires the use of sharp blades. And that's probably as far as we're going to get with that connection.

In Assassin's Creed Unity, the player takes control of Arno, a French Assassin during the tumultuous time of the French Revolution. Throughout the game he'll meet historic figures like Maximilien de Robespierre, the Marquis de Sade and Napoleon Bonaparte. None of these men, it should be noted, had any significant facial hair. Maybe that's the real connection with Edge, then. Unity is a game filled with clean-shaven men.

Assassin's Creed Unity will arrive on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 11.
