According to the announcement on the developer's website (thanks, GameSpot), the patch is set to include "connectivity optimizations," which will, we can hope, start to allay some of the lag problems many users have been reporting since launch. The game was advertised to have dedicated servers for multiplayer, but that hasn't become a reality yet. On the same post, Sledgehammer only responds to players' questions about this with an unhelpfully vague quote from Activision

The bugs that will be fixed by this upcoming update include a couple having to do with prestiging, including issues with prestige resets and and an issue with stat counting after prestiging. Responding to the community's wishes, Sledgehammer is also using this patch to include an option to turn eSports Rules on during private matches.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare has been out for about a week now. The game takes a page out of futurology and adds new kinds of weapon and gear into the traditional Call of Duty formula for a near-future setting that treads the line between sci-fi and realism. It's now available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.
