Super Smash Bros For Wii U Features: Multiplayer Classic Mode And New Master Fortress Section Revealed In Pic Of The Day

Super Smash Bros Wii U will be largely similar to the 3DS version in terms of gameplay, characters, and stages, but there are notable differences between the two as well.

The 3DS version had been the focus of most reveals leading up to its launch--the largest info dump for the Wii U edition was delivered recently in a livestream. The reveals included the board game-style Smash Tour: World Smash, eight player battles, playable Mewtwo, and more.

Today's picture--one is posted daily on the Miiverse forums by series director Masahiro Sakurai--isn't a full feature or game mode, but some more information about a mode we've already seen. Classic mode is of course an integral part of the series' single player offerings, but how about a two-player run?

The image above shows off a cooperative Classic game, while Sakurai's description explains what we're seeing:

"Playing Classic mode with two players means you can battle the Master-type opponents together...but your opponents will also be powered up. The foe in this picture is Master Beast."

Obviously having another player with you would make things easier, but the enemies are scaled accordingly (as in most games). There's a Wii U exclusive singleplayer Classic mode section called Master Fortress as well, shown in the image below, in which you must attack the structure's "heart-like cores".
