Telltale Games took to Twitter this morning to drop a bomb- their Game of Thrones series will kick off its first season shortly. There's no official release date just yet but the company is planning to release across as many platforms at possible within the same week, as they always do. The teaser image also revealed the name of the first episode, 'Iron From Ice', and that there will be a total of six episodes this season.

That will make the game the longest one yet for the company- all of their previous "seasons" have typically been five episodes long, with the space of around a month in-between. It looks like there was just too big of a story this time, which has the side benefit of giving us a whole six months of Game of Thrones goodness to look forward to.
It looks like the release plan will be the same as with their last two games, The Walking Dead Season 2 and The Wolf Among Us, in that they will be releasing two games at the same time. Tales From The Borderlands is still on track for a release before the end of the year!

Job Staufer, Telltale's VP of PR, is the man to follow on Twitter for teases for both upcoming series, as he's been constantly taunting us with notes about trailers seen and episodes played through.

Just remember folks, he told us that Game of Thrones would take the company's recent trend of dark depressing games and give it an uplifting, happy feel.
"Yeah, Game of Thrones is much lighter," said Stauffer at the time. "It's actually a bunch of kids singing kumbaya."
Soon. The franchise already has a great board game and a card game (both from Fantasy Flight Games)- let's see if Telltale can complete the hat trick.
