Far Cry 4 Won't Be Getting A Blood Dragon 2, Though We Might Be Getting Something Equally Weird

Ubisoft Devs Have Said No To A Blood Dragon 2, But They Might Be Planning Something Else

For those of you hoping that the best thing about Far Cry 4 would be that it raised the possibility of a followup to Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, there's some bad news. But it comes with a glimpse of a silver lining.

Make Sure Your PC Can Run Far Cry 4 Before You Shell Out For Those Preorder Bonuses

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon was an expansion for Far Cry 3 that had nothing to do with the original game. The developers took the existing game of tribal warfare on a tropical island and used only the bare bones to create something else from the ground up: a neon-infused, adrenaline-soaked, loving tribute to the 80s. The end result was a glimpse at what would happen if the likes of Duke Nukem took over a major FPS title, and the fans loved it.

Unfortunately, a Blood Dragon sequel doesn't seem to be on the books for the team behind Far Cry 4. In an interview with IGN (thanks, GameSpot), Far Cry 4 creative director Alex Hutchinson mentioned that Blood Dragon would not be making a reprise. After all, the surprise was half of what made the expansion so well liked, the fact that nobody saw it coming.

Far Cry 4's Soundtrack Might Have A Bit Of Rock And Roll Influence, Based On Who Ubisoft Hired To Collaborate

With any luck, though, the Far Cry 4 developers will have something brand new in store for their game.

"It was a great use of the Far Cry 3 base, and had an awesome soundtrack," Hutchinson said. "But no, you won't get another one of those. But hopefully we'll be able to surprise you with something just as much."

Far Cry 4 will launch for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC on November 18.
