Final Fantasy XIII-2 is available to pre-order via Steam and the Square Enix Online Store for $19.99. Those pre-ordering the Steam version will receive 10% off. The Windows PC version of Final Fantasy XIII-2 includes a number of new features such as 60 frames-per-second support from launch, customizable rendering resolution (720p, 1080p and more) and Japanese Voice support with subtitles.

The sequel is a very different beast from its 2010 predecessor, adopting a more fluid, open world structure to the strict rigidity of the original Final Fantasy XIII. It is both its blessing and its curse, as the gameplay is highly fun and addictive, but the storyline can be very hard to follow at points. Well, the game does feature a heavy dose of time travel. and "untangling the threads of time is essential to experience the full story", so expect to keep checking the forums to find out what's going on.

The company also confirmed that following the feedback from fans, Final Fantasy XIII which released last month on PC, will also be updated in December to include the option of a customizable rendering resolution.

Given the release of both the original FF XXIII and now XIII-2, it stands to reason that Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will soon be available on the PC with enhanced resolution and gameplay.

Head on over to the Steam to pre-order.
