'Prototype 2' Combat is Like 'Batman: Arkham City' with a Gun

Radical Entertainment has released the long awaited Prototype 2, the sequel to their best-selling open-world game of 2009 Prototype.

Players will once again experience open world action like never before as they cut through the wastelands of post-viral New York Zero (or NYZ).  Building up deadly biological weapons and abilitie allow players to hunt, kill and consume their way toward the ultimate goal of killing Alex Mercer.  This time the game's protagonist is not Mercer but a new US Marine, James Heller. The game is set 14 months after New York became a disease-ridden war zone with Mercer responsible for it.

"All of us here at Radical are extremely proud of what we've created with Prototype 2 and we hope you all get as much enjoyment from playing it as we had making it," said Ken Rosman, Studio Head, Radical Entertainment.

Prototype 2 utilizes a very similar combat system to Batman: Arkham Asylum.  The mechanics are streamlined and easy controls allow players to focus more on stealth and exploration.  Like the Batman game, Prototype 2 allows for stealth in order to eliminate enemies silently.  Players can disguise Heller by stealing another person's identity in order to enter restricted areas and stalk down opposing guards one by one.

Players can also choose to combat enemies aggressively by going into full gun-shooting mode and wreak havoc with violent mayhem.  Heller also has the ability to fly atop skyscrapers, land, then slash his enemies to a bloody pulp.

In Batman: Arkham Asylum, players also control the caped crusader gliding through the skies of Gotham.  But in Prototype 2, Heller has an array of firearms to use in addition to flight.  An array of rocket launchers, machine guns, and even a cannon that Heller can rip off of a tank can be used to blast away enemies.

Prototype 2's combat system is sure to feel rewarding with its fluid array of action and violence. Fans, who have pre-ordered Prototype 2 or purchased the game during its launch, will be able to get access to the RADNET Edition content through 55 pieces of additional content, which will be released over the next seven weeks after launch.  This would include in-game Events, Challenges, Avatar Items, Dynamic Themes and Behind-the-Scenes videos, as well as bonus mutations for the game's main story.

This is not the only thing that comes with the launch of Prototype 2.  For players who have mastered the 2009's Prototype game, developers have also come up with the "Blackwatch Collector's Edition" which contains the RADNET Edition content along with the first paid DLC pack redeemable on May 8. Fans will also get a voucher code to download the game's final comic "The Labyrinth" along with a soundtrack and art book.

With additional bonuses, players can get ready for another game full of adventure and action. The game has been launched for PlayStation 3, XBOX 360, while the PC version will be available on July 24, 2012.
