Crossing Souls Kickstarter Campaign Begins: 1980s Inspired Spielbergian Adventure Coming From Devolver Digital [TRAILER]

Kickstart My Game! Crossing Souls Begins Crowdfunding Campaign; A Spielbergian And Zelda Adventure Title

The dream of the 80s is not alive in Portland, but on Kickstarter. Crossing Souls has begun its crowdfunding campaign, and it's a project we think you should back. Any fan of the old school top down adventures or the Reagan era will love it.

Crossing Souls takes us all back to the good old days of 1986 in California and tells the incredible story of a group of friends who will live the summer of their lives after uncovering a mysterious artifact whose powers they don't fully understand but will change their lives forever.

The whole game is done like a straight to video genre film from the 80s mashed together with a cornucopia of classic gaming influences like Zelda, Metal Gear and Final Fantasy. Players will assume control of several of the kids and travel and interact not only with each other, but with the lost souls from across time as well.

It sounds like the kind of story Spielberg would have made, complete with dinosaurs, Civil War soldiers and thumping 80s synth soundtrack. It's a more kid-friendly Hotline Miami, utilizing the same aesthetics to tell a greater tale.

Crossing Souls will even take you beyond the grave. Should you die during the adventure, the mysterious Duat stone will reveal glimpses of the world to come. You can interact with over 100 NPCs among both the living and the dead.

The 1980s are all the rage now. Those who grew up during that time period like myself (albeit not the full ten years) are now the content creators and they still remember the sense of childhood adventure of those days. Before everything became grim and gritty and dark.

The game will be available on PC, Mac and Linux. No console support is announced at this time.

The Kickstarter Page has all the information you could want, including character descriptions, budget breakdowns, videos and team bios. They're only asking for $45,000 and are well on their way to achieving that.
