The game's Steam page now reads "December 2014" as the release period, which was really the only option left for the developers (aside from a surprise late November release) when they said it would launch before the end of the year. Polygon since contacted Telltale, and an official stated that the studio was aiming for an "early" December release.

The game's first trailer debuted recently, showing off some well-known characters and revealing that several of the HBO actors will be reprising their roles. Lena Heady's Cersei narrated the trailer, and she will be joined by Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Natalie Dormer (Margaery Tyrell) and Iwan Rheon (Ramsay Snow) in the game, with more cast members coming on in the future.

The first episode, Iron From Ice, is the start of a six-episode season. You'll play as five different members of House Forrester, bannermen to House Stark. Your actions will supposedly have an effect on both the Game of Thrones world and House Forrester itself. Telltale warns that your choices will cause ripples that will truly have you engaged in the Game of Thrones, where you win or you die.

Throughout the season, players will journey to locations recognizable from the show and George R.R. Martin's book series A Song of Ice and Fire such as King's Landing and The Wall. You'll also spend time in new locales such as Ironrath, the home of House Forrester. The game's events will begin towards the end of the HBO series' third season, ending its narrative arc just before the beginning of season five.
