Geometry Wars 3 Dimensions Released, Brings 3D Grids To The Series For The First Time

The next entry in the Geometry Wars series is now available in North America with the launch of Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions.

Super Smash Bros For Wii U The Fastest Selling Wii U Title Ever

The game launches today on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 through PSN, and on Steam for the PC. The Xbox 360 and Xbox One launches are set for tomorrow, and the game will cost $14.99 on all platforms. The game is digital only, and will not be offered in any retail locations.

The traditionally top-down, twin stick arcade shooter adds a new twist to the series with this entry: 3D gameplay and game modes. There's a dedicated single-player campaign with 50 levels, as well as online cooperative and competitive multiplayer. The game includes five unique companion drones, power-ups, boss battles, and the obligatory community leaderboards. There are Classic Arcade modes available, too, for anyone who prefers that experience to the new version.

"Geometry Wars is a part of our DNA," said Craig Howard, Co-founder of Lucid Games. "Several of us here worked on prior games in the series, and we've had ideas kicking around in our heads for where it could go next. Partnering with Sierra to bring those visions to life has been an amazing experience."

Sierra is owned by Activision Blizzard, helping small studios publish titles while remaining independent.
