Assassin's Creed Unity Offers Free Dead Kings DLC, Season Pass Holders Can Get A Free Game Like Far Cry 4

Ubisoft Offers Assassin's Creed Unity Players Free DLC As A Peace Offering

Ubisoft announced today that it will be making the Dead Kings DLC for Assassin's Creed Unity free to all players as an apology for Unity's glitchy and buggy launch.

Assassin's Creed Unity's Patch 3 Is Rolling Out This Week; Get The Details Of This Huge Fix

To say Unity's launch had been rough would be putting it nicely. Various bugs, glitches and issues made the game unplayable for many players after launch. Syncing problems with both Uplay and Initiates have plagued the game since its release, though subsequent patches have since turned Unity into more of a finished product. Nevertheless, Ubisoft has committed to its apology, which is good news for all the players.

When it launches, the Dead Kings expansion for Unity will now be free for all players. Dead Kings will take Arno to the French city of Saint Denis after the events of the base game. Saint Denis is the burial location of the French royal family and, as such, is filled to the brim with royal treasure. Arno will have to face off against a necropolis full of grave robbers in what Ubisoft is calling the darkest story the series has ever told.

In Memoriam: Remember The Best Glitches And Bugs From Unity's Launch

If you've already purchased the game's season pass, which previously included Dead Kings, don't feel left out of the fun. In fact, you may be getting the better end of the deal. To make up for the fact that Dead Kings is now free to all, Ubisoft will be giving season pass holders their choice of a whole free game, in addition to the free copy of Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China that they'll be getting. The options for free game include Far Cry 4, The Crew, Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed Black Flag, Rayman Legends and Just Dance 2015. Considering the season pass was only $30, being able to pick up a digital download of a new game like Far Cry 4 or The Crew for nothing is a pretty good deal.

For those who are hoping to go grab a season pass for your own free game, I've got bad news. Unity's season pass is no longer for sale, so you're stuck in whichever boat you're already in. Still, with these freebies Ubisoft is handing out, it's hard for any player to feel slighted with these deals.

Assassin's Creed Unity is now available for PC, PS4 and Xbox. Patch 3 for the game is rolling out this week with an advertised 300 fixes. Patch 4 will focus more on the game's frame rate and is still in development.
