Zombies, Wolves: Black Ops 2 vs. Ghost Recon Future Soldier Monster Bash

Monsters seem to be trending with upcoming first person shooters as Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Ghost Recon: Future Soldier plans to unleash unique features into its gameplay.

Game development company Ubisoft's latest trailer for Ghost Recon: Future Soldier reveals a new breed of super soldiers called the Bodark.  Based on a Russian folktale about people choosing to be Werewolves, a group elite soldiers are granted with high tech state of the art weapons and will stop at nothing to destroy the heroic Ghost troops.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier focuses on stealth and using nearly millions of weapon combinations to infiltrate locations and take out enemy threats.  Unique features of Ghost Recon is the invisible camouflage abilities that prevent opponents from visibly detecting Ghost troops.  Players can also customize weapons with the game's Gunsmith feature.  Aside from single player campaigns, most fans will be looking to play the game's advanced multiplayer mode with its advanced tactical gameplay.

The developers at Treyarch has plenty of monsters of their own in its latest title Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.  Described as the most ambitious and innovative Call of Duty title to date, Black Ops 2 will look to do things differently as described by Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg.

"Hands down, this is the most ambitious Call of Duty ever," said Eric Hirshberg. "We are bringing disruptive innovation to the franchise and we are doing it on several fronts. We're pushing the boundaries technologically, graphically, and from a narrative and gameplay perspective."

Back by popular demand is COD's enhanced Zombie Mode, which features an improved multiplayer engine for zombies, handling "a co-op tally double that of Black Opts 1's."

"It's a totally different frame of mind when you sitting down to play zombies. It's you and your friends and its coop and it's blasting Zombies....Black Ops II has the most ambitious zombies that we have ever created. If you ask zombies players what they want, they want more zombies. They are going to get that, more game modes and more ways to play it," said Mark Lamia, the head of Treyarch.

It plans to be the "most ambitious Zombies effort ever."

Other features that Black Ops 2 will showcase are several game modes in multiplayer.  Players can choose from "Escort, Split Spawn, or Equalizer.  Weapons will also be a focus as customized artillery firepower for Assault Rifles, Submachine Guns, Shotguns, Sniper Rifles, Light Machine Guns, Pistols, and Explosives will be used with the games easier aiming capabilities.

Fans will be looking towards the a monster bash as recent comments from Ubisoft ignited the rivalry between the two titles.  After announcing that Ghost Recon: Future Solder went gold, Ubisoft had this to say about the upcoming COD game.

"While one of our competitors recently revealed plans to imitate our game's future technology for their release in the fall, we're proud to be bringing Ghost Recon: Future Soldier to retail this month," said Tony Key, senior vice president of sales and marketing, Ubisoft.

We will see how Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 sales respond to the comments. Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will strike first as it hits stores May 24.  Black Ops 2 plans its release for November 13.
