Etrian Mystery Dungeon Gets U.S. Release: New 3DS Screens Showcase The Roguelike Etrian Odyssey/ Mystery Dungeon Mashup

Etrian Mystery Dungeon: Two Great Flavors Now In One Delicious Serving, Only On The 3DS; New Screens For Spring 2015 Release

More details have emerged about the upcoming Etrian Mystery Dungeon title for the 3DS. ATLUS and Chunsoft announced the game last week alongside Etrian Odyssey V, and now they've officially announced that it's coming to the Americas.

Etrian Odyssey V Announced At Last, And Brings A New Trailer, Too

The game combines the deep character customization of the Etrian Odyssey series with the roguelike level generation gameplay of Mystery Dungeon. By their powers combined, they create an endless procedurally generated dungeon crawling title that can be infinitely replayed until very end of time.

Players form their adventuring party using Odyssey's ten character classes, customized to their own liking, and then embark into the endless dungeon with up to four distinct characters. More than skills and equipment, positioning is the key to victory. In rogue-like games, you venture as far as you can into a dungeon, which is always different, and try not to die. Unlike in many other games, death is a permanent factor in roguelike titles.

Persona Q: Shadow Of The Labyrinth DLC Schedule Announced For December

From the official press release, "The unique perspective in Etrian Mystery Dungeon means that special care will have to be given when selecting party members and upgrading their abilities. With dungeons chock full of enemies and all the loot and money collected at stake, being 100 percent certain in your party's abilities is crucial for making it out alive."

ATLUS and Chunsoft also released some new screens for the upcoming title.

Etrian Mystery Dungeon will arrive on Nintendo 3DS in the Spring of 2015 here in the States (it hits Japanese shores on March 5) for the suggested retail price of $39.99.
