Viewers tuning in to The Game Awards this past weekend got a special treat. Legendary game studio Sierra debuted the trailer for the remake of their equally legendary adventure series, King’s Quest.

Super Stardust Ultra Gets A Sequel on PS4

The forthcoming title, expected in Fall 2015, marks the series first return to systems in 17 years after the release of King’s Quest: Mask of Eternity (also known as King’s Quest VIII). The point and click game was one of the gems in the Sierra crown, making its first appearance 30 years ago in 1984.

The game’s original creator, Roberta Williams (who founded Sierra) and her husband Ken recevied a standing ovation at The Game Awards in tribute to their stellar contributions to the industry over the years.

King’s Quest is being developed by The Odd Gentlemen, who handled the Neil Gaiman gothic-horror mystery Wayward Manor earlier this year, as well as The Adventures Of P.B. Winterbottom. The game “reimagines the core characters and familiar storylines of King Graham’s early journeys, setting up new chapters tied to – but independent of – the original games.” The world of Daventry will expand in ways never before seen, and if the trailer is any indication, it will be a wonderful and enjoyable return to the land.

King’s Quest will be out next year on PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4 and PS3. Watch the trailer below! You can download all eight of the original games in three separate packs for $4.99 each at GOG.com.
