The First Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon Patch Improves Gameplay, UI And Updates Unit Strengths And Weaknesses

Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon has been out for a little more than two weeks, so it’s about time that the turn-based strategy sci-fi title gets an update. I mean, most games these days get patched on day one!

Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon Review - A Great Game!...If It Was 1998

The first major content patch (update 1.02) addresses several issues that longtime Warhammer fans and myself had about clarity of focus. The purpose is to create a better and more enjoyable player experience.

The patch includes a lot of minor additions to UI and gameplay. For instance, a tooltip has been added to the experience bar. Where before it was just a line that magically increased, now you’ll have a better understanding of how it increases. They also replaced strength and health stats with cover and morale, which is a bit more useful in the heat of battle. Additionally, new UI changes add color text indicating strengths and weaknesses of enemy units (and very festive, too, with the red and green).

Mordheim: City Of The Damned Adds Third Warband And Other Improvements

Additional melee impact animations and audio effects have been integrated. One of my big complaints of the game was the staid and somewhat antiquated animations - or more often than not, lack of animations - to the gameplay. Hopefully Slitherine can improve that little by little over the course of the years.

Many units have had their troop numbers or strengths tweaked. For the full list of changes available in the patch, head over to the official forum post. Steam players will have the patch automatically applied, all others can run the download tool from the game’s launcher.

Good hunting out there, fellow Imperials!
