New Dragon Ball Zenkai Offers More Explosions and Grabbing

If you need proof about the longevity of a franchise, Dragon Ball Z is more than willing to provide you with the examples. The sequel to Akira Toriyama's original adventure manga with martial arts overtones thrown in to please his editors has culminated with 60+ games released across every platform you can think of (yes, even the original Game Boy). While Dragon Ball for Kinect will come out this October for all your screaming-at-the-TV-powering-up-needs, Arcades will be getting a four player battle royale with Dragon Ball Zenkai Battle Royal Super Saiyan Awakening according to Andria Sang.

Among the usual crowd of Son Goku, Vegita, Krillin and Freeza, there isn't much new to see aside from the set-up being a four-man battle royal for the die-hard arcade crowd. The official site features gameplay and tutorial videos showing off every energy blast, throw and racing around the screen. The only interesting addition appears to be a grab function so you can team up with other players to attack someone. This is an interesting nod back to the first season of Dragon Ball Z when Goku sacrificed himself to let Piccolo use his Special Beam Cannon--and yes, it may sound ridiculous now, but it was an important moment!

Regardless, it's essentially confirmed this won't go beyond Japan, unless there's an enterprising arcade owner that's willing to put up the cash. Instead, just sit back and countdown until the October launch for Kinect, when you can scream at the screen and gather all that potential energy from every living creature on Earth. It'll also have the unwieldly feature of QR codes to unlock characters, but that's still questionable when it comes to a practical game feature.
