Hulu has started offering Android users free mobile streaming of several current TV shows through the Hulu app on Google Play.

Hulu offering free TV content on its main platform isn't anything new, but for mobile users, it certainly is. Usually, a Hulu Plus account is required to stream anything through the Hulu app, even if the same content is accessible by non-subscribers on the actual Hulu desktop site. Just in time for the holidays, though, Hulu is offering Android users a taste of what mobile streaming is like by opening up a selection of current TV shows for free.

According to PC World, this new promotion lets Android users watch a certain number of free episodes from the most recent seasons of several current TV hits. According to the app's updated description on Google Play, shows like Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Modern Family, Sleepy Hollow and South Park are all up for free mobile streaming on Android. Assuming the Android Twitter account isn't trying to mislead anyone, other shows up for free mobile streaming include The Flash, Gotham, The Mindy Project and Once Upon a Time.

To access the rest of Hulu's library of content on mobile, you'll need to shell out $8 a month for that Hulu Plus account. iOS users look like they'll have to keep doing that regardless, as it doesn't seem like this is a cross-platform offer on Hulu's part.
