Jon Hamm On Superheroes: Mad Man Actor Declines Roles For Superheroes, Feels Too Old To Don Cape

Don Draper Doesn’t Wear Capes

Oh poor Jon Hamm. Poor sweet, beautiful Jon Hamm. The veteran actor has never been a superhero and will likely never be a superhero. Which is really too bad because he certainly looks the part, as he has the jawline for a mask.

As it turns out this is a personal choice as Entertainment Weekly reports that the actor is happy to never pursue a superhero role in film. Although he does seem a little hurt about the whole thing, he also states that the people who watch superhero movies don't find him "appealing".

He cites Chris Hemsworth and, of all things, One Direction as the youth ideal which seems like a strange thing to throw into a conversation about superhero films. To be fair though, he does also describe himself as "old and irrelevant".

DC Treats Fans to Awesome Movie Variant Covers

Ok, Don Draper. If you say so. I just want to point out that that the same people who pack theaters at midnight to see Thor are a lot of the same people who watch Mad Men on Sunday night.

He did have one very valid complaint however, about the industry which considering that Hamm is an older actor, may be something that he really has to think about when choosing movies.

"The deals that they make you do are so draconian. And, of course, you are signed on for not only the movie that you are signed on for... but at least two more that you haven't read and you have no idea what they are going to be and all the crossover ones you are going to have to do," Hamm says. Nobody wants to be locked into bad sequels. Nobody wants to be Mr. Myagi in The Next Karate Kid.
