New Powers Comic: Sony TV Show Prompts Return Of Acclaimed Comic Book Series From Creators Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon

Powers To Make A Return To Comic Stands

To coincide with the upcoming Powers TV series, Marvel has announced a brand new comic. Powers #1 is a new ongoing series by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming from the Icon imprint.

Star Wars Graphic Novel is Getting the Remastered Treatment

The book focuses on Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim, two homicide detectives that solve the crimes that others can't. Crimes involving the super powered criminal members of society and those that manage to kill them.

The original run of Powers started back in 2000 under Image before the book moved to Marvel in 2004. The book is a genre-bending read. Yes, it does have superheroes, dead ones who need justice, but it's also a sort of crime noir. Superpowers are pretty common in the universe they exist in but they still manage to wreak havoc on the populace.

Deadlands Graphic Novel is Bringing Back The Old West Like Never Before

Bendis shares his excitement for the new series saying, "What a great opportunity to roll up our sleeves and make a bold new chapter for our characters. As the first issue opens, new powers are popping up all over the place and with that new cases and new headaches for our beleaguered Powers detectives. And most importantly a great new jumping on point for new readers."

The first issue will be a special double sized book. Included between the covers will be a special behind-the-scenes look at the making of the television show.

The show will air before the comic in December and follows the same characters. The show is the first scripted program on PlayStation Network. Which means if you haven't got a PlayStation, you aren't watching. Sorry.

The new comic debuts in January in comic shops. Check out the preview for the new show below.
