You're Not A Nice Person... Unless You Buy The Hotline Miami 2 Collector's Edition

So what's on the 180 gram vinyl record? The game’s developer Dennaton is not giving out details of the 28 song set list, but does assure us that Hotline Miami artists such as M|O|O|N, El Huervo and Perturbator will be returning alongside newcomers like Megadrive, Mitch Murder, and Magic Sword. One can expect more of the synth heavy, ethereal 80s infused dance music, like an unnerving Miami Vice score, to be in full effect for the sequel.

Just give a listen to Mitch Murder’s song Interceptor and tell me that you aren’t immediately transported to some broken-down hotel on the edge of nowhere where the only illumination is an orange street light flickering on and off outside of your window. The night is warm and sticky, and something bad is about to go down.

The tri-fold jacket encasing the vinyl features original artwork by Niklas Akerblad, the Swedish artist responsible for the cover art for both Hotline Miami games. Three three disc collector’s edition also contains a collectible phone card which has a Steam download code written on it.

"Back in my day we didn't have fancy IBM-compatible computers or PlayStations - we played our video games on the family record player and liked it," said Devolver Digital CFO Fork Parker. "You couldn't see a damn thing but that's what made it challenging."

Hotline Miami is a top-down brawler overloaded with 1980s excess and neon lights. The game is inspired in part by Nicolas Winding Refn’s absolutely brilliant movie Drive, starring Ryan Gosling, and borrows many of the same musical cues. (The film’s soundtrack alone is worth the price of admission.)

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number will continue the hazy, fever dream tale of ‘Jacket’ and follow events that happened both before and after the Russian mafia massacre of the first game. The title launches in Q1 of next year for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and the Vita. You can pre-order the $60 collector’s edition via the official iam8bit site today.
