Gotham Casting Call Confirms Robin’s Parents Will Appear In The Series

Robin Back Story To Be Explored In Upcoming Episode of Gotham

There's only one set of parents in the DC universe known more for just dying than Bruce Wayne's parents. The parents of his protégée/sidekick/ward, Dick Grayson. The two will finally be getting a more fleshed out backstory in the new show Gotham as a casting call has gone out to fill their parts.

DC Cancels Heap of Comics in Wake of New Convergence Event

Newsarama reports that there has been a casting call made to fill the roles of Jonathan Grayson and Mary Lloyd to appear on the prequel series. This isn't exactly a surprise as Bruno Heller revealed there were plans to give the two a back story, "We're going to do a prenatal origin story for Robin down the line. There's an episode coming up where we learn how Robin's parents got together."

What most people know of the Graysons is basically that they died. Extra points if they know they were circus performers, bonus points if they know that they died during a performance and their deaths were not mere accidents.

Batman: Arkham Knight gets the Comic Treatment to Bridge Gap Between Games

It's pretty easy to see why Batman took this kid under his wing.

Gotham is a prequel to the Batman cannon. So interested parties who have not seen any episodes, don't expect to see the boy wonder make an appearance. He's nothing more than a twinkle in his daddy's eye during this period of the timeline. The episode with his parents will not air until 2015 so there's some time to figure out who will be taking the roles and how this meeting between the two will eventually lead to the Robin that we know today.
