Doctor Who Keeps His Companion: Actress Jenna Coleman Will Not Be Leaving Role As Clara After Christmas Special

Clara Stays On After The Holidays in Doctor Who

The Doctor Who Christmas Special "Last Christmas" has aired and brought with it another special holiday treat for Whovians: Clara will be staying on as the Doctor's companion.

Orphan Black Shows New Video and Releases Synopsis

When the trailer for "Last Christmas" was released, it was amid rumors that she would be retiring as the doctor's companion. Possibly even meeting the true death as it were. These all turned out to be rumors as it was confirmed by the BBC that the fan favorite would continue her travels through space and time with the new doctor as she had with the one before him.

As reported by Super Hero Hype, actress Jenna Coleman is very happy that she will be continuing in the role of Clara Oswald, saying, "I get a whole other series of stories with the Doctor and couldn't walk away with the story being unresolved."

Dr. Who Christmas Special has Special Jolly Guest

The 12 Doctor is actually Clara's second time around. She started with the 11 Doctor, played by Matt Smith. It was theorized that "Last Christmas" may have been one of if not the last episode Clara would be seen in. After all, the Doctor goes through companions like candy. The star was allegedly supposed to be ending her run as the companion the end of the year but ultimately decided to stay on and continue her adventures.

She almost met her end in the episode but (spoiler) was saved at the last moment by the Doctor and, of all things, Santa Claus.

As it turns out, Clara is here to stay. Well, for a while at least anyway.
