Clash Of Clans New Year Update: Gem Boost On All Buildings Caps Off Another Successful Year For Supercell

Clash Of Clans New Year Gem Boost On All Buildings For The Next Week Caps Of Another Big Year For Supercell

Supercell would like to wish you a very happy New Year to all you Clash of Clans players out there.

Sol Invictus, Interactive Sci Fi Gamebook, Is Out Next Week On Mobile

It has been a big year for the addicting mobile title, which is still pulling in $1.5 million a day and remains in the top 10 free-to-play games on the App store. Considering the sheer number of games that are released - many of which are poor Clash of Clans knockoffs - that is something to be proud about.

But this is not about them, this is about you, the player. Do you have a building? Any building at all. Well, any building the produces units? Oh, you do? Well, from now until January 7, you can boost the production rate of that building for one Gem.

That’s right, Elixir pumps, Gold Mines, Dark Elixir pumps, barracks, spell factory and Heroes can all be boosted for the low, low cost of one Gem. All the better to attack you with, m’dear.

But with all the boosting happening - gems can be acquired through patience by collecting Gem boxes or knocking down trees, or by paying for them - where does Supercell get the money? Meet the Whales. Like certain members of various governments and corporations are fond of saying, you are living off the backs of those people who can afford to drop thousands and thousands of dollars on frivolous things. They’re the gaming 10% and they can account for almost 50% of all revenue generated for all IAP enabled mobile titles.

So, whilst you are raiding that enemy village tonight whilst the Ball drops, be sure to toast the big guys in the ocean. We couldn’t do it without you. Well, maybe we could, but then we’d all have to pay for games upright and that is sooooo 2014.
