NightCry Teaser Offers First Look At Clock Tower's Spiritual Successor From Director Of The Grudge [VIDEO]

Get A First Look At NightCry, The Spiritual Successor To Clock Tower With New Teaser From Grudge Director Takashi Shimizu

Last year marked the 20th anniversary of the classic horror franchise Clock Tower. To celebrate the occasion, creator Hifumi Kouno announced the follow up: NightCry, a spiritual successor that is coming out on Vita, iOS and Google Play.

Attack On Titan Season 2 DELAYED!

The game was announced back in September under the working title ‘Project Scissors’, which we have to admit is a far more intriguing name for anything. “The creators of this project are aiming to deliver the ultimate horror game experience by transporting players into a virtual world of primal fear, suspense and mystery.” so says the official release.

NightCry will take place aboard an adrift cruise liner where someone - or something - is killing off the passengers. Your character will be tasked with solving the mystery and preventing any more murders, hopefully without being murdered yourself.

Mighty No. 9 Nearly Finished, New Level Shown Off In Video

In addition to Kuono’s vision, the creature effects are being designed by Masahiro Ito, who created so many of our nightmares in Silent Hill.

Today, the game’s developer Nude Maker released a new live action teaser trailer directed by Takashi Shimizu, the Japanese director who gave us the original - and superior - Grudge series, as well as a live action remake of Kiki’s Delivery Service. Hey, you have to your hands in many pies in the film industry.

Kuono is very excited to be getting back into the game industry. “When conceiving the idea for
a new horror game, I focused on staying true to the essence of what I created in Clock Tower, which was the edge of the seat suspense and fear of an unknown. I have been preparing for this game for over five years and now the development is finally about to begin.” he said back in September..

NightCry is boasting quite the horror pedigree. We look forward to seeing how it will turn out. In the meantime, here’s the teaser.
