Finally! PlayStation Now Unveils Monthly Subscription Plan For Unlimited PS3 Streaming

The PlayStation Now system, which allows owners of various PlayStation consoles to ‘rent’ a selection of PS3 titles, has been active for a while now and a good success as a means to finally achieve backwards compatibility. Sony has unveiled a new subscription service, which hopes to to streamline the service.

Previously, the service offered different rental periods for different games, ranging for a few hours to a week or longer. There was no consistency in the service and it flustered many a fan, most of whom are used to unlimited film and tv streaming from services such as Netflix and Hulu.

According to the official blog post, starting on Tuesday, January 13 players will now be able to sign up for one month for $19.99, or a three-month plan for $44.99, which will save you $5 a month for the bulk service.

PlayStation Now currently features over 100 PS3 titles - big ones like Uncharted, Bioshock: Infinite, Infamous - and Sony has been tinkering with the notion of adding both PS2 and original PlayStation titles to the lineup in the future.

To celebrate the service, “a free PlayStation Now theme will be available for PS4 users in early January. If you download the theme before January 31, you’ll be automatically entered into a drawing for a chance to win a one-year subscription to PlayStation Now.”

You can download the PlayStation Now for PS3 and PS4 by accessing the PlayStation Store. Vita and PS TV owners can download the beta App here.
