iPhone 5 and the WWDC: Will Apple Give a Release Date for the New iPhone?

Apple recently announced a keynote for its Worldwide Developers Conference this June, but left out any details about the sought after iPhone 5. Traditionally, Apple has used its WWDC as a platform to unveil new products, like iCloud data storage and other bits and bytes of Apple tech. iPhone junkies are looking to this year's conference to get their info fix.}

All talking points thus far point to the phone's operating system, not the phone itself, Apple senior vice president of worldwide marketing Phillip Schiller saying "We have a great WWDC planned this year and can't wait to share the latest news about iOS and OS X Mountain Lion with developers. "The iOS platform has created an entirely new industry with fantastic opportunities for developers across the country and around the world." iOS will power Apple's new iPhone.

A publication called DigiTimes published that the iPhone would be available in September, whereas some are saying it may not arrive until October, with reports that manufacturers are only now beginning to assemble the device. Apple has a penchant for leaving the masses in the dark, last year's WWDC being the exception, where Apple unveiled the iPhone 4S only a couple weeks before it went on sale in the fall.

But thanks to the good Apple addicts at 9to5mac.com, there is some information to hold you over until the WWDC begins, June 11th.
