Halo 5 Guardians Beta Week 3 Update Is Live: Strongholds Gametype Added, Truth And Empire Return Alongside New Pegasus Map

343 outlined its plan to update the Halo 5: Guardians Beta throughout its duration, and the build has now received its next round of changes for Week 3.

Destiny Weekly Update: Next Patch Is Removing Crota's End Exploits, Rebalancing Raid Drops

The current version, which just went live earlier today, introduces a new gametype called Strongholds. Additionally, players will start with both a Battle Rifle and Assault Rifle, Empire and Truth are back in the map rotation, and Pegasus won the Forge map vote.

Strongholds, which is playable on both Regret and Empire, requires teams to hold capture points spread across the map to gain points. Your score only climbs if your team is in control of at least two of the three points, and first to 100 wins. Regret also now has a rocket laucher, which appears to be fairly different from Halo's past rockets.

For Slayer, players will be able to battle it out on Pegasus (which won the Forge community map vote over Orion) and the returning Truth. Players will start with both Battle Rifles and Assault Rifles in this gametype. Pegasus features rockets, a sniper, and light rifles, making it a marksman's dream.

Surprisingly, the Breakout gametype introduced in Week 2 is still in the beta--there's a lot more to choose from now than when the beta began. Breakout is still playable on Crossfire and Trench only, two maps designed with the no-respawn gametype in mind. The beta will conclude on Sunday, January 18.
