Nintendo eShop And Virtual Console Update: Street Fighter, After Burner, LEGO Price Reductions, Throwback Sales And More

Hot off the heels of their live-stream event from yesterday, Nintendo's back with a whole new set of available titles. Oh yeah, it's the Nintendo eShop and Virtual Console weekly update!

Nintendo Direct Livestream January 2015 Recap: So Much From The House Of Mario

The big title this week is 3D After Burner II, which should do two things: one, remind you that you have all sorts of games to play because this is January, and two: remind you how awesome these games are because everybody loves Top Gun. This arcade masterpiece now features stereoscopic 3D, a choice of real arcade cabinets, new difficulty settings as well as visual adjustments options. $5.99 on the 3DS.

Lufia: The Legend Returns - the GBA Color title tells you everything you need to know from its opening line: "After waking from a century long slumber on Doom Island, the powerful Sinistrals rise to lay a devastating claim on the world they want for their own." On that alone, you are either with this game completely or not at all. Guide 12 characters through over 200 RPG levels. Available on the 3DS, but playable only in 2D for $5.99.

New Nintendo 3DS XL Release Date And Details

Described as an "NES Classic", Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight abandons everything you love about Street Fighter and turns it into a futuristic (hey! 2010 was the future at one point) Metroidvania that has Ken ripped across the galaxy in an attempt to save the world. Still not as ridiculous as the Jean Claude van Damme movie. $4.99 on the Wii U.

Nintendo is also starting its 'Throwback Sale', in which "the best of different console generations come together in powerful game pairings on Nintendo eShop. Whether you buy them one at a time or together, it's your chance to save up to 50% on select games!" Even the new Wii titles announced at yesterday's live event. This week's offerings are Super Mario Galaxy 2 ($9.99), Yoshi's New Island ($29.99) and two titles from the Pushmo series. Tune in each week until February 5 for more combo deals.

Perhaps in honor of the film's SNUBBING AT THE OSCAR NOMINATIONS, several LEGO titles have had their price reduced this week, including:

LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham for Wii U is now $39.99, while its 3DS counterpart is now $19.99

The LEGO Movie Videogame for Wii U is now $19.99 and remains AWESOME.

LEGO The Hobbit for Wii U has been reduced to $19.99 (from $29.99).

Also out this week is:

Quell Memento - a Zen puzzler, and sequel to Quell Reflect. $3.99 on the 3DS, out tomorrow 1/16.
Space Lift Danger Panic! - it may sound like some crazy sci-fi game about a space elevator, and that is precisely what it is. Use portals, lift things. Sounds like fun. $2.99 on the 3DS.
Electronic Super Joy: Groove City - "A Giant Robot Stripper called JoJo has smashed Groove City! She's angry because Dr Swinger stole her Laser-Nipples!" Shut up and take my money. All $4.99 of it.

That's us for today. See you next week!
