House of Cards Season 3 Spoilers: The Hidden Gun May Be Close To Home

Is The Real Villain Of Season Three Of House Of Cards Already In Frank Underwood’s House?

Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) is in a lot of trouble in this upcoming season. That's clear from the recently released trailer. Various theories have circulated on his eventual downfall but one pins the end on Claire (Robin Wright) and makes a compelling argument for how things may end up.

Orphan Black Will See Some Old Favorites Come Into The Spotlight

The idea that Claire will be the one to "pull the trigger" isn't a new concept, but the reason why was always up for debate. Latin Times offers an interesting theory as to why the First Lady might be responsible for the death of her husband.

One thing throughout the series that has been clear, no matter how unconventional their relationship, Frank and Claire really did love each other. She's had a stand by her man attitude the entire series (she's such a good politician's wife) why change now at the end game?

The theory suggests that it's not necessarily what he's done, only that people are starting to find out about it. Frank has been masterful at controlling his image throughout the series. If half the things that he's done come to light, he'll be ruined.

Which is why Claire might be the one to hire a gunman to put him down.

Not out of anger for getting her mixed up in his business but as a way to protect him. After all, if his legacy is destroyed, then he might as well have been nothing at all.

The trailer showed a widening divide between the two. If this is a plot line then Claire would need to be careful. After all, if there's anything we've learned from the last two seasons it's when you come for a king, you better not miss.

House of Cards returns to Netflix on February 27.
