Game Of Thrones Spoilers: Has Jon Snow's Mother Finally Been Revealed?

A Set Decoration On Game Of Thrones May Reveal Who Jon Snow's Parents Are

Game of Thrones is full of mysteries but an Easter Egg hidden in one of the episodes of the first season may reveal the answer to one that has been plaguing fans since the beginning. Who is Jon Snow's mother? Spoilers below.

A bit of stage decoration may have revealed the answer as pointed out by Moviepilot. In an early scene with Jon Snow in Castle Black, the letters "R+L" are carved into the wall.

This plays back to the theory that Ned Stark isn't Jon's father at all and that his real parents are actually Rhaegar Targaryen and Ned's sister Lyanna. Which would explain why Ned never told him who his mother was and how he came upon a bastard in the first place, what with him being such an upstanding gentleman.

The secret would have to be kept to keep the kid alive, after all, the rest of the Targaryen line was wiped out save for a few kids that crossed the seas and single descendant that's now part of the Watch.

This could just be a cheeky add on to the show, the letters don't appear in later seasons, but George R. R. Martin is very close to the production and it's unlikely that such a huge spoiler would just be allowed to sit unless it meant something.

Just one more sign that Jon Snow might be riding that third dragon after all, along with Tyrion who is also rumored to be part Targaryen.

Game of Thrones returns to HBO on April 12.
