Final Fantasy Type 0 HD Combat Trailer Outlines The Many Paths To Victory
With a little less than two months to go before Final Fantasy Type-0 HD hits shelves, Square Enix is ramping up its look into all things Orience. The latest is a special news report from the front lines that examines how combat will work in the upcoming PSP remake.
Action is a little less rigid in Type-0 than in other more traditional Final Fantasy titles. Players command groups of three characters (chosen from amongst the 14 members of Class Zero, the main characters in the game) and engage in semi-real time combat. Each cadet brings his or her own unique powers and weapon ability - outlined here - which allows for the perfect customization of resources for any encounter. You can even string together three man combos called 'Triads'.
When a cadet is slain in combat, he or she can be replaced. Along those same lines, the new Summoning power - which brings forth the idolan monsters - requires a cadet to sacrifice him or herself in order to necessitate the summon. Don't worry, that character will be fine as soon as you get them to a base.
There are only three types of Magic in the game: fire, lightning, ice. Gathering up the properly colored fantoma crystals, which allow you to increase the range and strength of various magical attacks.
Final Fantasy Type-0 HD is out on March 17 for both Xbox One and PS4. Pre-ordering the game will earn you access to the Final Fantasy XV demo, titled Episode Duscae. Square is quick to point out that only those who pre-order will be eligible for the demo. It will not be made available elsewhere.
