Twelve Teams Enter, One Team Leaves At The 'World Of Tanks' Grand Finals This Spring

Tank combat has gone out of style in modern warfare - thanks a lot, drones - but we can still get our giant land vehicle destruction fix in World of Tanks, and soon the twelve best teams are going to show us all how it's done.

Wargaming has announced that the Wargaming.net League 2015 Grand Finals will be taking place on April 25-26 at EXPO XXI in Warsaw, Poland. Two teams from six different regions (including two scrappy underdog teams) will battle head to head in intense 7v7 vehicular slaughter for as yet unannounced prizes. Glory is good and all, but it sure doesn't pay the bills.

"The biggest WGL eSports event is about to start its engine," said Mohamed Fadl, eSports Director of Europe and North America at Wargaming. "The recent revamp of tournament rules changed the surface of WGL eSports. Soon, we'll see the best of the best meet in the final face-off in what's set to be a breathtaking and action-packed Grand Finals."

Wargaming recently updated the tournament format, adding a new Attack/Defense mode in which teams switch off defending and assaulting two capture points. The teams then switch off in a best of eight competition, with applicable tie-breaker rules. Read up on the format changes HERE.

Two teams from the North American, Chinese, European, Asia/Pacific and the commonwealth of independent states, as well as the two aforementioned wild cards, will all vie for fame and glory. No word yet on which teams will be competing.

"I'm delighted that Warsaw, for a second time in a row, will be hosting the best World of Tanks pro players," said Michał Olszewski, Deputy Mayor of Warsaw. "It's thanks to the excellent cooperation and the great atmosphere of last year's event that organizers decided to choose the Polish capital once again for the Grand Finals. The previous tournament gathered masses of spectators and I hope that this year will be another resounding success."

There will undoubtedly be a Twitch stream showing off the madness. But if you find yourself in Poland during April (lovely weather that time of year, I'm told), you can show up and be eligible for some free swag from Wargaming. Bring your enthusiasm, though. Only the most passionate spectators can hope to win.
