Xbox One February 2015 Update Brings Controller Improvements, Game Hubs, Chat Upgrades And More [VIDEO]
Microsoft rolled out the first major update of the year to Xbox Live today.
The month's release adds new updates to the Xbox One controller. Impatient folks who were upset at the approximately four to five seconds required for a controller to boot up will be pleased to hear that now, the process will only take two seconds. Pfh, the comments say 'instant boot-up or we're never going to M$ again!'
Additionally, the stability of the controller has been given an overhaul, so disconnect issues should be far fewer. To download the update, be sure to attach the controller via a USB port.
Those who utilize the TV viewing capabilities of the Xbox One (it is the "all in one entertainment center" after all) will be pleased to hear that the live TV viewing options have been expanded in various other countries. TV Trending has been added to the OneGuide listing, which allows you to completely disregard the show you're watching (#Scandal) and just pick up all the major events via both the Trending on Twitter and Trending on Xbox notes.
"Live TV streaming on Windows Phone and Android devices for Xbox One Digital TV Tuner owners has been added in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy and Spain."
Game Hubs - a sort of Pinterest for Xboxers - have been added. "Every Xbox One game will have a game hub where you can see which friends are playing the game, compete with your friends in game leaderboards, dive into the coolest game clips and game broadcasts, and follow the game's top broadcasters and clip creators."
Party chat has gotten an overhaul. New prompts and icons allow you to better know who is talking, who has a lousy connection or who has even disconnected. Plus, the update brings along improved performance for Player 2 Player communications.
