The Art Of Evolve Preview: Insight Editions Releases Essential Companion Alongside Anticipated Game

The creation of Evolve took more than four and a half years, which resulted in a veritable ton of concept art. For this project Insight Editions was granted access to nearly 1,000 pieces of art- hey, it takes a lot to create an entire world and ecosystem from scratch!- and were thus able to pick and choose among the best to showcase the creation of the world of Shear.

The artists of Turtle Rock Studios worked with Insight to talk about the various changes over then course of development, including challenges unique to the game industry, such as how how playability and functionality influnces the design of everything from character to weapon design. Concept art showing the world of Shear will be accompanied by commentary developers who reveal that no, Shear doesn't look like a nice place to live, and it never did.

The creation of the various hunter characters will be shown but, as in the game, the clear focus will be on the monsters, because who doesn't love a giant monster design? As you can see from this concept sketch, it took many tries to settle on the look of the monsters included with the game (three so far, with two more on the way.)

The book will be 9.25" by 12", a nice-sized coffee table book that runs 192 pages.

The Art of Evolve will run you $39.99 for a hardcover copy, although you can find it discounted on Amazon. It is available the same day as Evolve, February 10, the perfect time for you to persuse between matches.
