Halo 4 vs. Call of Duty Black Ops 2: Zombies, Multiplayer, and Spartan Co-Op

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will look to compete with Microsoft's upcoming Halo title.  The Halo franchise is considered as one of the best games to date as Microsoft and 343 Studios will look to continue its success through Halo 4's multiplayer Spartan Ops co-op gameplay.

By offering weekly DLC updates, Halo 4 will give narrative missions where up to four players can complete through collaborative gameplay.  The mission episodes fall into one long narrative that can be downloaded daily.

"It's a significant amount of content: both gameplay and story-wise. And the story will matter. Characters you know and love will be effected in dramatic ways, the story driving the universe forward in a meaningful way," said Halo 4's Franchise Development Director Frank O'Connor.

Four player teams can gunfight their way through mission challenges utilizing a primary and secondary firearm.  Armor and weapon selection options are fast and fluid in order to match the game's quick paced combat.  Weapon items and abilities players can expect include Tactical Package, Support Upgrades, Armor Ability, Armor Lock, and Firepower.

The first season promises to deliver high replay value with free Achievements which is accessed with Xbox Live.  Additional content will be available for a price, which has not been officially released. No news yet if Halo 4 would also release a second season.

As of now, there are no reports of Halo 4 to come with a public multiplayer beta for Halo 4. "We are conducting an internal beta test of Halo 4 which is a standard development practice for most video games. We have no plans for a public multiplayer beta for Halo 4," according to a Microsoft spokesman as informed to Kotaku.

New Multiplayer features from Halo 4 brings refreshing content to its co-op mode.  Treyarch's Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 looks to bring in new material of its own into the highly successful franchise.  A very different multiplayer mode is in the works according to the game's Game Director Dave Anthony.  In an interview with T3,  Anthony promised fans that new plans and details will make Black Ops 2 multiplayer different from past titles.

"We sat down and tried to work out how we could surprise people. Multiplayer is no different to that. We've made a real emphasis on the social side of this because we know people play this with a lot of friends with the focus on trying to encompass all of that in the experience. I think it's going to blow people away," said Dave Anthony, Game Director for Call of Duty: Black Ops in an interview with T3.

Fans are mostly looking to see more zombies as Treyarch announced that the undead will return in the main story campaign along with multiplayer.  The zombie multiplayer can support up to 8 players in cooperative mode.

"Typically Zombies would run on what we call the single player, the code base that's more single player centric. We've now moved that over to multiplayer. You guys haven't seen what that means. But for us, it's a lot more zombies, it's a lot more players," the Treyarch producer explained in an interview with OXM.

"I can't tell you where we're going with it, but what I can tell you is: yes, that team is a very creative team. They're always pushing the boundaries of what they're doing and I wouldn't be surprised if there'll be some really cool stuff that we're going to announce soon," added the Treyarch rep.

Mark Lamia, the head of Treyarch, has already hyped up the game proclaiming that Black Ops 2 will have their most ambitious Zombies effort ever with improved co-op gameplay thanks to its multiplayer engine.

The multiplayer from both titles are looking to give gamers an enhanced gameplay experience from their past  games.  Zombies and co-op will look to compete with Halo's Spartan-Op.

Halo 4 is the eighth installment in the Halo franchise which is developed for Xbox 360. The game is the first of a new trilogy of Halo series games, "Reclaimer Trilogy" where Master Chief returns as the main protagonist. The game is set for a worldwide release on November 6, 2012.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 has been developed by Treyarch and published by Activision.  It plans for a November 13 release for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.  Black Ops 2 is the ninth game in the Call of Duty franchise and is a sequel to the 2010 game Call of Duty: Black Ops.
