Dragon Quest Heroes, the highly anticipated action RPG title set within the Dragon Quest series is hitting Japan tomorrow. Today, Square Enix announced that the game will be coming to North America later this year.

Kingdom Rush: Origins Update Adds A New Mini Campaign

The PS4 only title currently has a release date set for 12/31, but that is more than likely a placeholder. The game is available for pre-order via the Square Enix store for $59.99. Dragon Quest Heroes is a collaboration between original creator Yuji Horii and the team over at Omega Force, the sub-company of Tecmo Koei responsible for creating the long running Dynasty Warriors series.

Heroes marks the first foray into non-turn based combat, a staple of the series. Perhaps it is a sign of the times, or perhaps the old model simply wasn't working anymore and some new blood and energy had to be injected into the legendary series.

Square Enix Announces Its PAX East Lineup!

Acclaimed designer and Dragon Quest alum Akira Toriyama - who also created the other famous Dragon series, Dragon Ball - will be contributing his unique and familiar style to the many characters and monsters of Heroes.

Take up arms against hordes of enemies in true Dynasty Warriors fashion as you risk life and limb to save the kingdom. Dragon Quest, or its original title Dragon Warrior, distilled and redefined. Same simple story, all new action.

Japanese players will get to experience the title tomorrow, February 26 on both PS3 and PS4. The North American version will be exclusive to PS4. Now, let's get a release date already!
