Yacht Club Games has announced the first DLC pack for their award winning platforming title Shovel Knight!

A New Nintendo Network Store Rolls Out In Japan

The best part: it's entirely free. Titled Plague of Shadows, the expansion will set you in the shoes of the villainous alchemist Plague Knight, an "explosive trickster" of a character who is seeking to create the Ultimate Potion. However, Plague Knight must overcome his brothers and sisters of The Order of No Quarter, the Enchantress's elite guards, to create the potion.

It sounds like Shovelry will be tossed out the window, and in its noble place will be bombs, alchemical concoctions that will allow you "to blast your way through the game in a whole new way." The Plague Knight was one of the boss battles in the original game and is being added to the title as part of the game's Kickstarter stretch goals.

The game will also guide you along 'side-stories' from the original game, in which you navigate through some of the classic levels from a new perspective. Expect more worthy adversaries, epic bosses, Plague Knight specific feats and more. You might even find a little romance during your many travels.

Look, we're highly biased. Shovel Knight is a fabulous game and worth every bit of its $14.99 price tag. So we're always up for more.

Plague of Shadows will be out sometime in spring or early summer of this year for Wii U, 3DS, PS4, PS3, PS Vita, PC, Mac and Linux. All you need is your trusty shovel.
